Invitation for Youth to submit to the Creston Reel Youth Film Competition
If you know of any budding young film makers please tell them about this chance to enter their original video in the Creston Reel Youth Film Festival Competition. If their film is chosen as one of the three winners, it will be shown at the Reel Youth Film Festival Screening, April 19th, 7 pm at the PCSS Auditorium. The video can be on any topic, in any form, (just keep it tasteful), and must be less then 10 minutes long (including titles and credits) THE SHORTER THE BETTER!, with original music (made by them) or used with permission from the musicians. Deadline to enter March 1st. Email entries to lsteward@wynndel.ca.
Kootenay Festivals and Events Brochure 2009 listing deadline
Book your listing by March 9th if you want your festival, community event, exhibition, concert, workshop, etc. listed in the 2009 Kootenay Festivals & Events Brochure.
20,000 copies (double last year’s print run!) of this brochure will be mailed to 450 public outlets such as: Chambers of Commerce, hotel resorts, festivals, cafes, bookstores and arts councils around the Columbia Basin as well as to Tourist Info Centres from the Alberta Rockies to the BC Coast. We receive great response to the Kootenay Festivals and Events Brochure, and we continue to fulfill requests for copies throughout the year.
The information is also sent to media ( Canada and U.S. ) for use in their events listings (Selkirk Loop, Backpackers News and the North Columbia Monthly have utilized the listings in past years).
The 2009 brochure will include events from May 2009-April 2010. The brochure will list festivals and events within the Kootenays, and will be listed by the date of the event.
The cost for listing your festival or event is $65.00 per event/listing. The $65.00 is to help offset costs for printing and distribution (which has increased this year…) and is a great deal for the coverage it provides as it is subsidized by funding from the West Kootenay Regional Arts Council and the Province of British Columbia through the BC Arts Council and Direct Access Gaming funds.
The information you send us about your festival & event for the brochure is also uploaded to the CKCA website (www.basinculture.com), the West Kootenay Regional Arts Council website (www.wkarts.kics.bc.ca). Art, culture and heritage listings are also used in the cultural magazine, ARTiculate.
Listing includes:
Name of Event:
Date:
Place:
One sentence description (maximum 20 words-longer submissions will be edited):
Contact phone number and/or website:
If you are interested in listing your event, please send me the above information by: March 9, 2009. Don’t wait - space may be fully booked before the deadline!
All listings must be prepaid. To keep the cost of listings as low as possible, we do not mail invoices for listings.
Please mail a cheque for $65.00 (per listing) made payable to: West Kootenay Reg. Arts Council
Mail to: WKRAC, Box 103 , Nelson, B.C. V1L 5P7
Please also forward the personal contact name for the event/festival, address and telephone number.
The 2009 Kootenay Festivals and Events Brochure will be distributed mid April, 2009. If you have any questions, or want to see the last brochure (if you didn't get one), please call me at 250-352-2421 or email wkracassistant@telus.net
